The Carnival of Venice (Carnevale di Venezia) is an annual festival famous worldwide for it’s use of creative and colorful masks and costumes. Masks are handmade by maskmakers called Mascareri, usually from leather, clay, paper mache, plaser and gauze. Legend says the festival was founded in XIII century, and for ages it was a symbol of wealth and power of Venetian Republic. Today it attracts thousands of tourists who visit Venice.
